Bringing Summer Fun to Your Own Backyard.
2020 Season Wrap-up
Aug. 25, 2020
The 2020 summer Tennis season is in the books and we had another great time. This time it was more socially distanced but we could see the excitement of the kids to get out an play tennis. Safety precautions were instituted and we had over 50 kids participating in 4 classes with our 6 great coaches. We missed having the parents day and ice cream social. But there is always next year.
There is interest to continue playing in the Fall and I recommend going to the Oakhurst Youth Tennis Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/groups/2228839977446475) and organizing informal play on the courts. All you need is another person or three for singes or doubles.
There are still a few more months of great weather for Tennis.
See you on the Courts.

With Phase 4 in effect today and approval of the board, we are planning on starting the Youth Tennis Program on Tuesday, June 30th, and go until Aug 6th with the below scheduled times.
Tennis is by nature a sport that is conducive to social distancing. We seek to comply with Gov. Pritzker's phase 4 plan and provide safe activities for our community with risk management with the following program requirements.
COVID-19 Safety Plan:
We look forward to a good summer of tennis and your cooperation and understanding for all to have fun and most importantly stay safe.

With Phase 4 coming on Friday, I have sent the request to the Oakhurst Community board to get approval to start the Youth Tennis program with appropriate social distancing and safety measures. Just waiting for the green light.
Stay Safe Oakhurst.

Dear Oakhurst Youth Tennis Families,
This is our 12th year of doing the youth tennis program and it has been a great success over the years in keeping our kids up and active in the morning during the summers, utilizing the courts, developing skills, and for those interested, participating in tennis at WVHS.
With the current Covid-19 situation, our plan is to follow Gov. Pritzker’s phase 4 compliance and any other input from the Oakhurst Community Association.
At a minimum, it looks like the program could not start until July at the earliest and would be shortened.
This situation is very fluid and we would expect to know more in the next month to guide the decision on the season this summer.
I come from a strong safety culture in my career at Ecolab/Nalco Water. As many of you know, Jim Nielsen, teaches Biology/Anatomy at WVHS and used to coach tennis there before he had kids. We will look at safety precautions, social distancing, and may still elect to cancel the season as things unfold and more information becomes available.
Thanks for your patience as we all need patience at this challenging time.
Please join us at the Oakhurst neighborhood tennis courts in Aurora, IL.
